On September 28-30, 2025, the Final of the XXII International Contest of Creative Works of school and university students, postgraduates and teachers “Lessons of War and Holocaust – Lessons of Tolerance” was held in Chernivtsi, organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies.
The Contest traditionally brought together participants from all over Ukraine, who presented their own research, creative and educational projects dedicated to the history of World War II, the Holocaust, the fight against xenophobia and the formation of a culture of memory.
The jury included:
- Faina Vynokurova – Candidate of Historical Sciences, Deputy Director for Scientific and Methodological Work of the State Archives of Vinnytsia Region, Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine;
- Oleksandr Davletov – Candidate of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Department of World History and International Relations, Zaporizhzhia National University;
- Raysa Yevtushenko – Chief Specialist of the Directorate of School Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine;
- Igor Kryvosheya – Professor at Pavlo Tychyna Uman Pedagogical University;
- Natalia Ostrovskaya – Candidate of Sciences in Social Communications, Associate Professor of the Department of Journalism at the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, media trainer;
- Iryna Piskareva – Head of Educational Programs at “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies;
- Anna Skoreyko – Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, Department of History of Ukraine, Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University;
- Igor Shchupak – Candidate of Historical Sciences, Director of “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies, Vice-Rector of the Beit Hana Institute of History (Ukraine), Member of the Board of Directors of UJE (Canada), Member of the International Auschwitz Council (Poland), Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine;
- Halyna Yatsenyuk – Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, Department of History of Ukraine, Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University.
In addition to the actual defense of the works, a special event took place within the framework of the competition - the Ukrainian-German “Historical Dialogue”, which brought together participants in pedagogical projects of the Tkuma Institute and members of the Ukrainian-German Commission of Historians (DUHK). The meeting became a platform for exchanging experience in the field of teaching complex historical topics and developing intercultural dialogue.
