On February 13, 2017 Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” hosted opening of photo exhibition “Adult Crimean Childhood”, dedicated to the fate of political prisoners’ children of Crimea, annexed by Russia. The event was organized by – “Crimean House” in Lviv with the support of the Embassy of Canada in Ukraine, Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine”, “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies.

The opening was joined by Ilmi Umerov, former Crimean political prisoner, deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, who reminded the audience of the history of Russia’s annexation of the Crimea and told about the current regime’s repression against the Crimean Tatars and other patriots of Ukraine; - Rouslan Kats, Head of Political & Public Affairs section of the Embassy of Canada to Ukraine, who said that Canada unshakably supports Ukraine in its fight against external aggression; - Jaanika Merilo, Acting Deputy Mayor of the Dnipro; - Alim Aliev, journalist and political scientist, director of the state enterprise “Crimean House” - our longtime partner in the Ukrainian-Polish-Jewish-Crimean Tatar project “The Ark”; - Sevgil Musayeva, journalist, editor-in-chief of the Internet-edition “Ukrainska Pravda”.

All those present have become acquainted with the exciting photo exhibition with great interest. Its idea stands in line with the main idea of the Holocaust Museum and “Tkuma” Institute: THERE IS NO SOMEBODY ELSE’S PAIN. Visitors will be able to review this exhibition in the museum for a few more weeks.

Presentation of the book “Mustafa Dzhemilev. Unbreakable” by A. Aliev and S. Musayeva took place of the same day. Dr. Iegor Vradii, Head of “Tkuma” Institute Research Department, moderated the event. This book is now available to readers and our library.
