On September 28, 2017 Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” and “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies welcomed participants of the 7th International Conference of Urban Geographers. This year the conference was held in three cities – Kyiv, Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih – and was devoted to the theme of the transformation of urban space in post-communist countries. Famous geography scholars from all over the world came to Dnipro.

It would be impossible to organize this event in our city without titanic work of Prof. Liubov Zelenska, Head of the Department of Physical and Economic Geography of Dnipro National University. In large part due to this person, the authoritative forum took place in Dnipro, and our city has again confirmed the reputation of a cultural and scientific hub.

Participants reviewed the permanent exhibition of the Holocaust Museum together with Dr. Iegor Vradii, Head of Museum Research Department, and Deputy Head Dr. Denys Shatalov. The tour included an attempt to look at the Jewish microcosm in the dimension of Katerynoslav-Dnipropetrovsk-Dnipro and its history in the 19th-20th centuries.

During the breaks between the sessions, the Conference participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the materials of the mobile educational exhibition and the new editions of “Tkuma” Institute.
