“Tkuma” Institute in cooperation with Oles Honchar Dnipro National University and Junior Academy of Sciences released the third collection of school students’ research papers “Historical Etudes – for the Present” within the framework of project “Study of the Holocaust in Ukraine for the Formation of an Atmosphere of Tolerance”. Presentation took place in the premises of Dnipro Regional State Administration on May 19, 2017.

School students, who are winners of the contest of the Junior Academy of Sciences, became the authors of the research papers. Among the research topics chosen by young scholars there are – “Germany Agricultural policy in general district “Dnipropetrovsk” of Reichskommissariat Ukraine in 1941-1944” (by Kateryna Korotia); “British military men correspondence as a source for history of everyday life during WWI” (by Volodymyr Bobkunov); “Nazi Propaganda in occupational media of Reichskommissariat “Ostland” and Reichskommissariat “Ukraine” (by Daryna Cherednyk); “Ukrainian Nationalism and “Jewish question” during the Holocaust” (by Sofia Deberyna); “Children’s rights in ghetto: historical aspect” (by Oleksandra Savchenko), and many others.

“Of course the papers aren’t perfect (event the works of more experiences researchers have some gaps)”, noted Dr. Igor Shchupak, “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum Director. “But the main thing is that youth has desire for independent research and learning historical roots of many contemporary problems. Teachers of school students, their parents, and, of course, enthusiastic organizers Dr. Svitlana Kaiuk (DNU), Dr. Natalia Tiahlo (JAS), Prof. Serhii Svitlenko (DNU) made great contributions into creation of these papers.”
