On August 5-15, 2016 in Warsaw (Poland) International Educational Summer Camp for Ukrainian Jewish Youth was conducted. The retreat was organized by “Drzewo Oliwne” Foundation, “Tkuma” Institute and Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine”.

The program of this year’s camp included lectures on Jewish history, the Holocaust, development of Judaism in Europe, integration training and workshops. In particular, Dr. Igor Shchupak, “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum director, held classes on the history of the Jewish people and the memory of the Holocaust. Dr. Svitlana Kayuk described the images of modern Ukrainian historiography on the Holocaust topic. Olga Piontek held a virtual tour of Israel for the participants of the summer camp, while Miriam Hackenberg organized a workshop on Jewish dances. Special session by Iryna Piskariova, “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum Educational Programs Coordinator, creation of memory wall “Family History – the History of the Country” greatly impressed participants.

Excursion program was also very rich and interesting. As part of a summer camp participants joined guided tour around Jewish Warsaw, Museum of the History of Polish Jews POLIN and Museum of the Warsaw Uprising.
