During October 23–24, educational session of “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies was held for history teachers, methodologists and students in Kropyvnytskyi. Vladyslav Bazylevskyi, researcher of “Tkuma” Institute, Iryna Piskarova, head of educational department, Dr. Igor Shchupak held activities on teaching methodology and history of WWII and the Holocaust.

At Dr. Yurii Mytrofanenko invitation regional scientific-pedagogical seminars for city and region history teachers was held at Vasyl Sukhomlynsky Kirovohrad regional institute of postgraduate pedagogical education. Relevant questions on the new requirements in history teaching, current history textbooks, and the use of multimedia technology during history lessons, etc. were discussed during the events.

The same day, Dr. Igor Shchupak held a public meeting on “Space marking in the national memory context”. City citizens, scientists, historians, local historians visited this meeting. The topics of the Holocaust tragedy, resistance and rescue, modern problems of Ukraine, war in the east and modern propaganda were discussed. Many of those present had the opportunity to personally ask a question and get an answer.

Within the project “Marathons of Living” Vladyslav Bazylevskyi and Iryna Piskarova held a lesson on the Holocaust history for students of T. Shevchenko “Harmony” Gymnasium. Together with Dr. Yurii Mytrofanenko “Tkuma” Institute researchers talked with schoolchildren about their family’s history during World War II. Regardless of the vacation time, the students came to class, told stories of their families during the war, and some stayed after the lesson and continued discussing the topic with “Tkuma” Institute staff.

Regional scientific-pedagogical seminar on the methodology history teaching was also organized for history teachers of Kirovohrad region. Same day, the lecture for teachers of foreign literature and Ukrainian philology was held at at Vasyl Sukhomlynsky Kirovohrad regional institute of postgraduate pedagogical education. “Tkuma” Institute researchers at presented educational projects and programs that teachers and students can participate in, including creative work contest “Lessons of the War and the Holocaust – Lessons of Tolerance”, which is held together with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Joint lecture of Dr. Igor Shchupak and Dr. Igor Kocherhin, head of Southeastern territorial department of Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance dedicated to historical memory was held in a wonderful atmosphere for Kropyvnytskyi history teachers. World War II and the Holocaust memory policy; the “historical component” of the hybrid war of Russia against Ukraine; about the policy of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, in particular, in toponymics were discussed.
