December 5–6, 2018, Kharkiv hosted All-Ukrainian Scholarly and Practical Seminar “Teaching World War II and the Holocaust History in Modern School: Innovative Forms, Methods, Technologies”, organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies, Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine”.

The seminar was joined by history teacher from all over Ukraine, scholars and methodologists of regional institutes of advanced teacher training.

The seminar was opened by rector of Kharkiv Academy of Continuous Education Dr. Liubov Pokroieva, Chief Specialist of the Department of General Secondary and Preschool Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Raisa Yevtushenko, Dr. Igor Shchupak, Leading Specialist of the Department of Military-Patriotic Education of the Department for Information and Propaganda Provision of the Main Department for Moral and Psychological Support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Vasyl Pavlov.

Within the framework of the program of the seminar, reports were delivered by Professor of the Ukrainian Free University (Germany), researcher at Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute (the USA) Gennadi Pobereƶny, Researcher at the Institute of History of Ukraine at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv) Dr. Oleksandr Maievskyi, Chief Specialist on Regional Issues in the Volyn Oblast of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance (Lutsk) Dr. Larysa Bondaruk, Deputy Director of Chornomorsk Secondary School # 1 Dr. Viacheslav Maiorskyi (Odesa oblast), Vasyl Pavlov (Kyiv), Dr. Igor Shchupak (Dnipro).

The seminar program included discussions on topical issues of the contents of school programs on the integrated course of history, modern requirements for the teaching and methodological support of the teaching World War and the Holocaust history, the practical use of innovative methods, forms and tools during the lessons.

At the end of the seminar, all participants received official certificates.
