During June 11-16, Trans-Regional Academy «After Violence. The (Im-) Possibility of Understanding and Remembering” was held at “Tkuma” Institute, about thirty scientists from 14 countries around the world became the participants of the events. Prisma Ukraïna – Research Network Eastern Europe (Forum Transregionale Studien, Berlin), Center for Governance and Culture in Europe/University St. Gallen (St. Gallen), German Historical Institute Warsaw, European University Viadrina (Frankfurt/Oder), “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies, Center for Applied Anthropology (Kyiv) became the organizers of the project.

During the days of the Academy working, a rich and interesting educational program was waiting for the participants:

- Dr. Tetyana Portnova lecture (Oles Honchar Dnipro National University) "How to read a city? Dnipro and its history";

- excursion-seminar-discussion "Jewish Museum - experience of reconstruction" (Dr. Denys Shatalov);

- Dr Jan Berends' lecture (Centre for Contemporary History Potsdam) "Researching of the cruelty in socialist and post-socialist societies ";

-seminar «Influence of war, cruelty and dislocation on life worlds of “Ostarbeiter”, held by Dr. Carmen Shade (University of Bern) and others, no less interesting, events.

A separate part of the Academy program was the presentation of scientific projects by the participants, discussions and excursions around Dnipro with an emphasis on the history of Ekaterinoslav and Soviet Dnipropetrovsk (held by Andrii Portnov, professor of history of Ukraine in Viadrina European University (Frankfurt-on-Oder) and director of research network Eastern Europe PRISMA UKRAЇNA research network in Berlin and Dr. Denys Shatalov).
