On May 31, official Righteous among the Nations Award Ceremony – people who risking their own lives and the lives of their relatives rescued the Jews during World War II was held at Dniprovska city council. Solemn event with participation of authorities and public of the city representatives, Jewish community, media representatives was organized by the Embassy of the State of Israel in Ukraine. Staff of “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies” and Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” were invited and took participation in the ceremony.

Joel Lion, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the State of Israel in Ukraine held the Ceremony and told about the his own father fate, rescued in France during the Nazi occupation, and stressed the importance of honoring the memory of true heroes – the Righteous among the Nations. Official awards – personalized medal and honorary certificate – received Natalia Zayats, the heiress of the Righteous among the Nations in Ukraine – Anna Yalinskaya and her son Vasyl’, who during the Holocaust rescued a Jewish girl Tsipa Veksler from the death.
