On April 02, the round table on: «Xenophobia as a threat to the multi-ethnic and religious world in Ukraine and the challenge of creating a modern Ukrainian nation» was held at the Islamic Cultural Center (Dnipro). The participants discussed xenophobia as a social phenomenon, which is caused by economic, political and cultural factors, gave the examples of manifestations of xenophobia in Ukraine and in the world, offered actions to combat and prevent this phenomenon.

 Representatives of various religious denominations, human rights activists, members of Dnipro national communities, journalists became the participants of the round table. Representatives of the regional and city authorities, the monitoring team of the OSCE, the media were also invited to participate in the round table. Pavlo Fedosov, head of Muslims religious community «Vidrodzhenia» (Dnipro) became a moderator of the event.

 Olga Vasilieva, head of State Administration department, postgraduate student of the humanitarian policy department of the National Institute for Strategic Studies for the President of Ukraine; Edgar Devlakamov, deputy mufti of Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Ukraine «UMMA», imams of the Islamic Cultural Center (Dnipro); Ivan Krasikov, head of the GO «Non-governmental media advocacy group»; Vasyl Panteliuk, priest of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, director of «Caritas-Donetsk» (Dnipro); Dmytro Povorotnyi, archpriest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, representative of Eleos-Dnipro, military priest; Oleh Rostovtsev, member of the Dnipro Jewish community, advisor to the Dnipro mayor; Dilyaver Saidakhmetov, head of the information department of Spiritual administration of Muslims of Ukraine «UMMA»; Tatiana Talko, associate professor of philosophy department at Oles Honchar Dnipro national university; Dr. Igor Shchupak were among the speakers of the round table.

 Participants of the round table came to the conclusion that in Ukraine, in comparison with other countries, a fairly high level of tolerance, but in recent years cases of intolerance towards Roma, Muslims and Jews have become more frequent. Therefore, the prevention and fight against xenophobia remains very important for our society.
