On October 2, 2016 Panel DiscussionHolocaust Remembrance and Public Memorials: the Complexities and Challenges of Facing the Past” was held at UNO Headquarters (New York). Leading Holocaust researchers and scholars from Brazil, Ukraine, Japan, Israel, the USA and South Africa discussed issues of relationship between the memory of the Holocaust, public memory and education in their countries, focusing on educational programs for youth. Dr. Igor Shchupak, “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies and Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” Director, was invited to make a speech at the event.

During his speech, Dr. Igor Shchupak described the experience of educational and research on the Holocaust in Ukraine and paying particular attention to the events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy.
