“MEMORY AND NAME”

Project “Memory and Name” has been held in Donetsk on May 12-13 with participation of Donetsk Jewish Community Center and Donetsk Charitable Foundation “Hesed-Tsdaka”. During the Project Museum-educational exhibition “Rescue for the sake of justice”, Seminar “Problems of Holocaust” and presentation of documentary “Memory and name” have been conducted. 3 educational establishments (Donetsk Secondary Schools #12, 15, 35) and over 120 Jewish and non-Jewish students have been involved.

Watching “Memory and Name” documentary (produced by Boris Maftsir, Yad Vashem) has inspired students to vivid discussion and thoughts sharing.

All young students were so fascinated by the ideas and stories they had learnt that they promised to do all their best in the future to cultivate humanistic values in Ukrainian society to prevent anti-Semitic ideas development.

Museum-educational exhibition “Rescue for the sake of justice”. After seeing the exhibition young people were so touched and impressed that actively welcomed the idea of participation in the Tkuma guide training sessions - for those who successfully went through the training it was great honor to guide the exhibition themselves.

With great pleasure students gathered new materials and testimonies for the exhibition. Tkuma events active participant Bozhana Gomer from Donetsk has collected photos and interviews with Donetsk Righteous Among the Nations, prepared mini-exposition and presented it during one of Tkuma seminars. It was impressive live example for Donetsk participants to listen about heroic lives of their townsmen.

Tkuma “Rescue for the sake of justice” Museum-educational exhibition received extremely positive feedbacks and the participants emphasized the relevance of such project conduction for fostering peaceful future.
