PRESENTATION OF TKUMA CENTER ACTIVITY IN MOSCOW
On October 18-21st Tkuma All-Ukrainian
Center for Holocaust Studies has participated in CIS Jewish Communities
Conference “Limmud-2007”. The Conference has welcomed the representatives of
Jewish Communities from FSU, England, Germany, Israel and the USA. The educational
Conference based on principles of pluralism, volunteering and fully
availability for participants has been conducted in Moscow area (Pokrovskoe)
and hosted over 600 participants.
Dr. Ilya Altman (Co-Chairman of “Holocaust” Russian Research and
Educational Center) has presented the unique monograph of Dr. Yitzhak Arad “Jewish
Catastrophe on the occupied territories of the Soviet Union (1941-1945)”, which
has been published by Tkuma Center jointly with its Moscow partners.
Director of Tkuma All-Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies Dr.
Igor Shchupak has participated in various Conference
proceedings and conducted the practical session “Problems of Holocaust History
and other genocides perception in educational activity of Ukraine”, which
provoked keen interest of the participants from Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and
Israel, who were all-embarrassingly involved in discussions. The special
participants’ interest has been stirred up by the presentation of the
innovative educational aid to facilitate the Holocaust History teaching
process, i.e. the multimedia e-book “Why do we study Holocaust?’, recently
released by Tkuma Center. The audience highly estimated the interactive
character of the multimedia e-book and underlined the importance of describing
Golodomor of Ukrainian nation in 1932-33, genocide of Armenians in 1915 and
other genocides for conducting the comparative analysis of these phenomena and for
facilitating their appropriate perception by the representatives of different
nations.
