1. On October 15-16,
2007 in Kyiv “Tkuma” (“Renascence”)
All-Ukrainian
Center for Holocaust Studies is to conduct International Pedagogical Conference “Lessons of Holocaust – Lessons of Tolerance”. The Conference will welcome educational specialists from
Ukraine,
Belarus,
Israel,
Russia, who have great experience in Holocaust and other genocides teaching and research
at educational institutions of different countries of the world.
The Conference will raise many disputable questions,
which accompany teachers during dramatic historical events and tolerance issues
teaching. It is made an attempt to analyze comparatively Holocaust, Holodomor
and other genocides.
The Conference participants will acquaint
with the
new programs
and projects, educational and methodical aids, take part at workshops and visit
educational institutions and exhibitions. It is important that the participants will have the possibility to demonstrate their own
practical skills during group workshops. The Conference participants will participate in the Remembrance Ceremony of Holocaust victims in Babiy Yar, which is to be conducted on October 16, 2007 at
11.00 in Babiy Yar Memorial Complex.
2. The relevant constituent part of the International Pedagogical Conference will
be summing up and winners’ awarding of ІV International Contest of students’ and teachers’ creative and scholary-research
works “Lessons of Holocaust – Lessons of Tolerance”, which
was carried out under auspices of Ministry
of Education and Science of Ukraine.
3. On October 16-18, 2007 Tkuma International Scholary-Methodical Seminar for museum programs’
coordinators of Jewish organizations in
Ukraine is to be conducted. Leading specialists from
Ukraine,
Belarus,
Moldova and
Russia will participate in the Seminar.
Museum programs
play essential role not only in preserving Jewish national identity, but also
in activating the
Jewish
community life via involving the representatives of different
generations to investigate their backgrounds as well as comprehending the
history of Jews in
Ukraine,
in particular one of its most dramatic events – Holocaust history.
The aim of the Tkuma seminar is
to provide methodical assistance to the museum programs’ coordinators
in systematization of the museum expositions, to increase the efficiency of the
work and introduction the interactive character of the museum activity.
4. On October 16 from 14.00 till 15.00 presentation of
Tkuma
Center
new publications is to be held:
- Dr. Yitzhak Arad’s monograph
“History of the Holocaust. Soviet Union and annexed
territories” (firstly published in Russian language);
- Multimedia e-book by Igor Shchupak “Why
Do We
Study Holocaust?”
ON OCTOBER 16 FROM 13.00 TIL 15.00 THE MAIN EVENTS ARE TO BE
HELD:
- Summing up of ІV International Contest
of creative works and winners
awarding;
- Summing up of V International
Pedagogical Conference;
- Presentation of Tkuma Center new publications and
multimedia edition;
- Opening of Tkuma
International Scholary-Methodical Seminar for museum
programs’ coordinators of Jewish organizations in
Ukraine.
