UKRAINIAN TEACHERS ARE GOING TO YAD VASHEM
Yad Vashem is the world-famous international museum as well as the key scientific
educational institution on Holocaust History investigation. Tkuma Center is
working towards the developing of cooperation with Yad Vashem. On January, 2007
two centers have come to the agreement concerning interchange of materials
published in Yad Vashem and Tkuma Center. Henceforth, everyone can get acquainted
with the book novelties of both countries in Israel Institute and Ukrainian
Center libraries. Ephraim Kei, director of “International Seminars in English
and the Jewish World” in Yad Vashem, was so kind to present Tkuma Center some multimedia
materials which are of great use and importance for Ukrainian teachers.
According to the arrangement with the head of Russian programs of
International School for Holocaust Studies Dr. Irit Abramski Tkuma Center is to
send the group of 20 Ukrainian teachers to take part in the Israel seminar. Seminar
Participants will have a chance to visit historical sights of biblical history,
ancient world, crusader times, etc. But the most relevant seminar advantage is
the unique possibility to study in Yad Vashem. The seminar will be conducted on
December 23, 2007 – January 4, 2008.
Among the seminar potential participants are teachers who actively
participated in Tkuma Center events and elaborated methodological works on
studying of Holocaust history and problems of interethnic relations and
tolerance issues, prepared winners of Tkuma international Creative Works Competition
“Lessons of Holocaust – Lessons of Tolerance”.
In Tkuma newspaper we are going to introduce teachers’ pedagogical
experience. The full list of Ukrainian teacher who will take part in the
seminar is to announce within the framework of the Tkuma International
Pedagogical Conference in October. Nowadays each teacher has a chance to try.
They should just take a keen interest in problems of establishing tolerance
concepts, studying the lessons of history for the sake of future and contribute
to studying and teaching of above-mentioned issues. The Yad Vashem seminar surely
discovers new perspectives for teachers.
