INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARY CONFERENCE
“The Ukrainian-Polish Borderlands under the Soviet Regime 1939-1941: Ukrainian, Polish, Jewish Social Life and Relationships”
“Tkuma” (“Renascence”) All-Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies (Dnipropetrovsk) jointly with Polish Center for Holocaust Research, the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology and Polish Academy of Sciences (Warsaw) are to hold the International Scholary Conference “The Ukrainian-Polish Borderlands under the Soviet Regime 1939-1941: Ukrainian, Polish, Jewish Social Life and Relationships” in Lviv on June 17-20, 2007 . The conference is organized under the auspices of Task Force for International cooperation on Holocaust Education,
Remembrance and Research and the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.
The
following issues will be considered on the conference:
- everyday life and relationships between Ukrainians,
Poles and Jews in Western Ukraine under the Soviet Regime
1939-1941.;
- religious
life;
- social
and political activities;
- changes
in economic life, property structure;
- changes
in the social structure – transformation from national division into the
class society;

myth and facts about collaboration with Soviet authorities;
- “sovietization” of
Ukrainians, Poles and Jews cultural life etc.
The significant part of the
conference will be the lectures by well-known Polish scholars:

Sciences: “Stosunek OUN do Polaków i Żydów 1939-

Sciences in XIX and XX centuries: “Polska lewica komunistyczna we Lwowie -

stosunki wzajemne miedzy Polakami, Ukraińcami i Żydami na tzw. Zachodniej

Lwowie w okresie 1939-1941 (polskiej, żydowskiej, ukraińskiej)”.

occupation till May 17, 2007 . The Organization Committee will consider the applied projects and make the decision till May 26, 2007 ð.
The conference organizers cover travel expenses
and food and board costs in Lviv during the conference.
