Tkuma All-Ukrainian Academic Board Meeting

ImageOn January 27, 2006 Tkuma All-Ukrainian Academic Board held its regular meeting. Commemoration of International Holocaust Memorial Day, coordination of Tkuma Center working plan for 2006, as well as discussing the challenges of opposition to anti-Semitic tendencies in Ukraine, the hotbed of which is infamous MAUP were the principal issues on the Meeting agenda.

"Facts and Lies in the Common Knowledge on the Holocaust" the International Conference

ImageOn November, 17, 2005 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, the Institute for Europe Studying by Jagiellonski University, the Institute of Strategic Research organized in Krakow “Facts and Lies in the Common Knowledge on the Holocaust” the International Conference.

Task Force for International Cooperation on Holocaust Education, Remembrance and Research also took part in the arranging and conducting the conference.

"Holocaust: interdisciplinary approach" seminar for teachers

ImageOn September, 28-30 Tkuma Central Ukrainian Holocaust Foundation under the auspices of Pincus Fund, The L.A. Pincus Fund for Jewish Education in Diaspora, held “Holocaust: interdisciplinary approach”, seminar for teachers of Jewish schools. 38 teachers from Kyiv, Dnepropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Belaya Tserkov’, Donetsk, Kharkov, Chernigov, Simpheropol’ and Krivoy Rog took part in the seminar.

"Holocaust: comprehension of the tragedy" Forum-competition

ImageOn September, 27, 2005 Tkuma Central Ukrainian Holocaust Foundation organized in Kyiv “Holocaust: comprehension of the tragedy”, Forum-Competition. About 150 participants from all over Ukraine had an opportunity to communicate with each other, share with their thoughts and impressions. Organizers also announced and awarded the winners of the same name competition “Holocaust: comprehend the tragedy” which lasted during the year 2005.

The 1st International scientific practical conference on tolerance problems.

ImageOn December, 15 “Tolerance and spirituality in Ukrainian society and modern understanding of anti-Semitism and xenophobia problem” the 1st International scientific practical conference took place in Donetsk state institute of artificial intellect. “The Ukrainian Registered Cossacks” All-Ukrainian social organization, the Federation of Jewish communities of Ukraine, The Chief Rabbi Board of Ukraine, the Association of national-cultural unions of Ukraine, Donetsk state institute of artificial intellect, the Department of religious knowledge of Skovoroda G.S. Philosophy Institute by Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences (UNAS) and Ukrainian Association of religion scientist organized the conference.

"Metropolitan Andrei Sheptytsky" International Scientific Conference

ImageOn November 7th, 2005 a special Study Day dedicated to “Metropolitan Andrei Sheptytsky: the dilemma of humanistic choice in the conditions of totalitarian regimes” took place in Lvov. The event was held by TKUMA Central Ukrainian Holocaust Foundation (Dnepropetrovsk), Lvov “Holocaust” International Center, with the support of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee.

"I'm looking through the window": homeland in the child's eyes

ImageOn December 25, the Zaporozhye «Mazal Tov» JCC hold the awarding ceremony for the winners of the regional competition of the children art works «I’m looking through the window». Tkuma Center has also took part in the arrangement of the competition and awarded some of the participants special prizes.
